Silver Strikers have moved out of the Capital City shadows for the second time this season as they have traveled to Karonga to face the Rookies, Baka City Football Club.

The Central Bankers have won three out of the three games that they played at home and they will need to prove that they can even get points regardless of where they play.

Peter Mponda, Head Coach said the condition of the Karonga Stadium’s pitch is not an excuse, they need to win the game and return home with points.

We are geared up for the match tomorrow. This is a very important match for us and the three points at stake are what we need at the moment.
We have settled well and have had a feel of the pitch, it is not in good condition but we are not using that as an excuse we need maximum points to come at the end of the match tomorrow”, he said.

Mponda becomes the second coach to complain about the condition of the Karonga Stadium’s pitch with Kalisto Pasuwa also voicing it a fortnight ago.

The Bankers are leading the table with 10 points from 4 games, 2 points above the second-placed Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.

After two back-to-back wins over Bangwe All Stars and Chitipa United, Silver Strikers stumbled on their first away trip to Dedza when they came from behind to snatch a point as Charles Chipala canceled Victor Lungu’s early goal.

After a setback, the Bankers responded to it with an emphatic high-five win over Mafco FC in their previous game as they came from a goal down, a performance that promoted Mponda to praise the mentality of his charges.

Baka City remains winless in the Super League and they are coming from a 2-1 defeat to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets. They sit at the very foot of the table with just a point from four games, losing thrice and drawing once.
