Silver clinch FCB @30 Trophy with dominant win over Bullets

LSilver Strikers were crowned the winners of the FCB @30 Trophy, securing a convincing 2-0 victory over rivals FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in a celebratory match held at the Bingu National Stadium on Saturday, June 29, 2025.

The match, organized by First Capital Bank, the official sponsors of Nyasa Big Bullets to commemorate their 30 years of operation in Malawi, saw the Bankers deliver a strong performance, dominating their opponents and lifting the coveted silverware.

Silver Strikers Match Report


Silver Strikers, even with six Reserve players integrated into their squad, showcased early intent and control. Bullets also included Oscar Petro from their Reserve team in the squad. It was a game.qhifh allowed both coaches to use their fringe players.

The deadlock was broken in the 9th minute when Binwell Katinji skillfully finished a one-two pass with Stanie Davie, putting the Bankers ahead. Their lead was further extended in the 31st minute when captain Innocent Shema calmly converted a penalty after being fouled in the 18-yard box by Chikumbutso Henderson.


Nyasa Big Bullets attempted to find a way back into the game in the second half, with Lameck Gamphani’s free kick leading to a header over the bar in the 15th minute and efforts from Ephraim Kondowe and Sean McBrams being thwarted by Silver’s defense and goalkeeper Pilirani Mapira.

However, Silver Strikers maintained their grip on the game, with a disallowed goal for offside by Kalima in the 55th minute and Stanie Davie hitting the post in the 71st minute.

The Bullets’ challenge became even steeper in the 77th minute when their goalkeeper, Clever Mkungula, received a straight red card for bringing down Stain Davie outside the box, forcing Dominic Musonda to take up makeshift goalkeeping duties.

Despite being reduced to ten men, Bullets managed to prevent further goals but could not find a breakthrough themselves.


First Assistant Coach Mapopa Kent Msukwa lauded his Silver Strikers side for their disciplined execution of the game plan and the impressive performance of the Reserve players. For their victory, Silver Strikers were awarded the commemorative trophy and K1 million each in individual player prizes.

The match served as an exciting showcase of Malawian football and a fitting celebration of First Capital Bank’s three decades of contributing to the nation’s financial landscape
