Saviel salvages a point for Civil as Bangwe’s struggles hit a new low

Emmanuel Saviel’s second-half goal was enough for Civil Service United to snatch a point against Bangwe All Stars as the Blantyre-based side’s struggles hit a new low.

Bangwe are now winless in their first six games this season, alongside Mafco FC who bottled the win against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets late on Saturday, and Baka City who played a 1-all stalemate against FOMO FC.

Off the heck of a 1-0 defeat to Kamuzu Barracks, Mphatso Jika’s team were eager to register their first win of the season and it was manifested by Beston Jimu’s early goal after a brilliant pass from former Ntopwa FC attacker, Clever Chikwata.

Saviel was with Bangwe last season on loan from Bullets before securing another loan deal to Civil, he was the dangerous man for the Servants. With Civil hunting for an equalizer, Saviel invaded Bangwe’s territory but his effort was too high.

Bangwe’s denied goal against Civil

Bangwe were in ecstasy when Beston Jimu tapped home Clever Chikwata’s saves shot but their celebration was cut short as the flag was already up with referee Alfred Chilinda denying it.

Civil Service United who are lacking consistency had to bite back, Lovemore Mbeta, and Chikaiko Batison all missed chances back-to-back.

Just after heading over to the bar early in the second half, Saviel equalized for the Servants in the 55th minute. Bangwe pushed for more and their pressure paid off in the 76th when they won the penalty but Rahaman John saved Jimu’s effort from 12 yards.

Bangwe All Stars have managed to get three points from six games, third from the bottom while Civil Service United are 9th with seven points.
