Flames starlet Peter Banda marked his third TNM Super League debut on Wednesday, playing a crucial role as FCB Nyasa Big Bullets convincingly defeated Moyale Barracks 3-0 at Kamuzu Stadium.
Banda’s return to competitive action follows a lengthy injury layoff. He made his initial comeback last weekend at Bingu National Stadium in Bullets’ 2-1 Airtel Top 8 Cup semi-final victory over Karonga United, a match that unfortunately saw him substituted after sustaining another injury from an elbow.
However, Wednesday’s outing proved more positive for the former Simba Sporting Club attacker. Introduced at halftime for Mike Mkwate, Banda was given 45 minutes to showcase his skills. His impact was immediate, as he took charge of all set-pieces, creating problems for Moyale’s defense and forcing goalkeeper Jeremiah Simfukwe into a notable save from distance.

Post-match, a delighted Banda took to Facebook to express his gratitude: “Good Win At Home, Felt so good to play in this amazing stadium, Let’s go for more and the support was unreal.”

Banda’s Super League journey began in 2019, when he joined Bullets on loan from Griffin Youngsters before securing a permanent deal. His promising talent then led him to a loan spell at Sherriff Tiraspol, followed by a three-season stint with Tanzanian giants Simba Sporting Club.
His brief return to Bullets in 2023 on a short-term contract preceded an attempted move to Singida FC, which unfortunately fell through due to a shoulder injury that sidelined him for 18 months. Upon his full recovery and return, Banda shared a reflective message on Instagram: “No One can stop God’s plan for your life.”
Bullets’ Head Coach Peter Mponda last week acknowledged Banda’s contributions, stating that the winger is providing exactly what he expects from a player.
