Dedza Dynamos coach Alex Ngwira believes his current squad has the quality to secure a top 8 finish in the 2025 TNM Super League, despite a challenging start to the season.
The club endured a turbulent first half of the campaign following Premier Bet’s departure, which left them grappling with significant financial constraints. Those difficulties were reflected on the pitch, as Dedza found themselves third from bottom with just 15 points from 15 matches.
However, recent performances suggest a dramatic turnaround may be underway. The team has claimed maximum points from their opening two fixtures of the second round, climbing from the relegation zone to 9th place with 21 points.

Their resurgence began with a crucial 1-0 victory away to Blue Eagles, followed by another 1-0 triumph over Kamuzu Barracks at Dedza Stadium on Sunday. Marco Chiwaya provided the decisive moment in the latter match with what observers described as a brilliant goal.
Speaking to Wa Mpira, Ngwira revealed that qualification for next season’s Airtel Top 8 Cup was among his primary objectives when he replaced Andrew Bunya in the dugout.
“We haven’t performed well in the first round of the season, but in the second round, the boys are working really hard and they are taking our instructions,” Ngwira explained. “We are really encouraged with the win and it’s a motivation to the team because we can see the way the boys are playing.
“When Dedza Dynamos approached me, they asked where I thought we could finish with the current squad. I told them that with the players we have, finishing in the top 8 should be our priority.”
The coach’s confidence appears well-founded based on recent evidence, with his players responding positively to his tactical approach and demonstrating the resilience needed to climb the league table in the crucial second half of the season.
