Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Assistant Coach, Meke Mwase said the team do not need an introduction or motivation heading into their blue battle against Silver Strikers.
Though Peter Mponda said the result of this game would not have an impact on the title race, Wanderers have the chance to halt Silver’ flying start to the season with the two heavyweights tussling for pride, points, and bragging rights at Silver Stadium.

The Bankers have won four of the four games that they have played at home this season hence rebuffing the Women’s Football Association’s proposal to shift the game to Bingu National Stadium where they played as a home ground last season.
The Nomads who also remain unbeaten in the league are going into this game boasting a good start to the season too, winning three of their six games as they are coming from a 1-0 win over Karonga United.
Speaking to the Club’s Media ahead of the game, Mwase said the players know the importance of the game and they need it more than Silver Strikers.
It’s a game that needs no introduction to us, especially the players, the technical panel. The players know the importance of this game and they know that they need it more. We played them in the Kamuzu Cup where we were celebrating the birth of Kamuzu Banda but this is a different game altogether, we have to work, and we have to win it and collect three important points.
I know it is going to be a hard one since we are playing away [from home] but the players are prepared, we are also prepared to collect three points,” he said.
The two heavyweights who share 15 league titles between them are facing off in just a few days after facing off on Kamuzu Day as Wanderers claimed a narrow 1-0 win, thanks to Francisco Madinga’s strike. However, both coaches used fringe players as one way of preparing for this crucial encounter.
Last season, Silver Strikers played 10 games unbeaten under Pieter De Jongh but they suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium. However, Chimwemwe Idana’s strike was enough for the Bankers to take revenge in the reverse fixture.
The Nomads have lost two of the previous away games against Silver in the TNM Super League, the last time they returned home with maximum points was in 202 when Vincent Nyangulu scored the only goal.
