Silver Strikers Head Coach, Peter Mponda, said he expects a tough game against Bangwe All Stars this afternoon describing it as a “tricky” fixture.

Off the back of a 2-0 win over Chitipa United last weekend, the Bankers are looking to continue with their positive start but Mponda knows that the winner will not come on a silver platter.

“We played them during the pre-season, they are a very good team on the ball, very comfortable.”

Extended record from last season, Silver Strikers have won four of their last season games, drawing only against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets on the final day of the season.

The Bankers are the only team who are on an 11-game unbeaten streak as their last defeat is tracked back to October 16 when they lost 2-1 to Dedza Dynamos.

Mponda expects full-throttle Bangwe

Bangwe All Stars are coming from a 1-0 shock defeat to the newly promoted team, Friends of Mulanje Orphans, FOMO Football Club, and will be looking to bounce back from the setback.

Knowing that their visitors lost their first game, Silver Strikers mentor said he expects Bangwe to give them a tough test.

“But we can break their defense and we have got players going forward. With our speed, I think we can break.

“We are at home, we know that they are coming from a defeat, they don’t want to suffer two consecutive defeats. We are not looking much into it, we need to collect points when playing at home.

“The players are prepared, we need our fans to come in number to push us, we are good to go,” he added.

Both teams are under the tutelage of new coaches with Mponda replacing Pieter De Jongh while Christopher Nyambose was appointed the coach for Bangwe after dumping Mighty Tigers.

Nyambose’s men have just suffered one defeat from their last four games. The two teams faced off thrice in competitive matches with Silver bagging two wins while Bangwe recorded one win in a five-goal thriller. Currently, the Bankers are second on the table while Bangwe are 13th.
