FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Head Coach Peter Mponda commended Ekhaya FC’s defensive organization following his side’s hard-fought 1-0 victory, while firmly maintaining it’s too early to discuss winning the league title.

Mponda described the narrow win over “the Cowboys” as a tough encounter. “It was a tough game. Defensively, Ekhaya were very organized. We failed to find spaces but managed to keep the ball,” he explained. “Credit should go to the boys because, even though it was hard, we kept playing the same way we started.”

Despite the strong performance, Mponda reiterated his stance on title talks. “It is too early to say we can win the title. We have just played 10 games, and there are 20 more to go. We have a long way ahead, but we had a very encouraging performance today, and we need to build from that,” he stated.

The gaffer also praised his defense for their composure, though he acknowledged their near-flawless display might have been aided by Ekhaya’s struggles in the final third.

Babatunde Adepoju’s 57th-minute header secured the win, propelling Bullets to an impressive 27 points out of a possible 30. Their only defeat this season came against city rivals Mighty Wanderers, with the team winning their other nine games.

Bullets have been dominant both offensively and defensively, scoring 26 goals and conceding just 2, giving them a league-best goal difference of +24.

Adepoju’s prolific form is a key asset for the team, with his seven goals leading the league’s scoring charts. Meanwhile, Mpokera has been a defensive stalwart, contributing to eight clean sheets and earning three Man of the Match awards this season.
