Haiya has been appointed to the Future of Football Committee, a strategic body tasked with advising FIFA on long-term planning and reforms.
Dosi joins the three-member Legal Committee alongside Chairperson Elvis Chetty of Seychelles and Keith Mweemba of Zambia.
The appointments were made during a FIFA Council meeting at the Home of FIFA in Zurich on Thursday, October 2, 2025. The Council adopted key decisions on football governance and competitions following extensive consultations with FIFA’s 211 Member Associations and the six confederations.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino highlighted the significance of the new structure: “The new Standing Committees will lead to the greater involvement of our Member Associations, the confederations and other stakeholders in our decision-making processes, increased female representation and more focused technical expertise in various areas relevant to football. In other words, FIFA will be better equipped to face the future.”
Speaking after his appointment, FAM President Haiya expressed his gratitude and commitment to the role.
“I am truly honoured and humbled to have been appointed as a member of FIFA’s Future of Football Committee. My sincere gratitude goes to President Gianni Infantino, FIFA, and all those who have entrusted me with this important responsibility,” Haiya said.
He outlined the committee’s mandate: “The Committee’s purpose, among others, is to advise the FIFA Council, Secretariat, and Member Associations on strategic plans, policies, and reforms ensuring that football remains relevant, resilient, equitable, and globally sustainable, while effectively managing emerging trends.”
Haiya pledged to represent Malawi and Africa effectively: “As a member of this Committee, I pledge to serve with dedication, integrity, openness, and a forward-looking mindset. I carry with me the voice of Malawi, Africa, and future generations, committed to shaping a football landscape that unites, inspires, and endures.”
The Future of Football Committee focuses on strategic planning and ensuring the sport’s long-term sustainability and relevance in a changing global landscape.
The Legal Committee handles governance, regulatory, and legal matters affecting football administration worldwide.
The appointments mark significant recognition for Malawian football on the international stage and strengthen COSAFA’s representation in FIFA’s governance structures.
