CRECK Sporting Club Head Coach, Macdonald Nginde Mtetemera said despite having a trimmed squad ahead of their game against the league leaders, Silver Strikers, he still has hopes of upsetting Peter Mponda’s team.

CRECK Sporting have bagged seven points this season from five games and Nginde said the team is ready to face the Bankers.

Three players, goalkeeper Emmance Nyirenda who was voted as Player of the Match in their game against Karonga United, Akuzike Lifa, and Tathedwa Willard will miss squad selection due to loan conditions as the players were signed from Silver Strikers on loan. The team will also miss the service of their top goalscorer George Chaomba (4 goals) due to a Red card.

“It’s an opportunity for other players to showcase what they can do for the team. We have equally other players who can fit in their places. So, there is no need to press the panic button,” he said.

Not afraid of Silver’s good form

CRECK Sporting Club Head Coach, Macdonald Nginde Mtetemera is returning to Silver Stadium after years. In 2021 he was the Assistant Coach to Zambia’s Dan Kabwe.

His exit from the Club was disappointing as he was the only Coach to be fired from the technical panel with Kabwe and Macdonald Yobe initially retained before Kabwe was fired permanently.

The announcement by Silver Strikers was that Nginde was on suspension after an internal matter but he was not recalled back until landing a job at defunct Sable Farming.

Last season, Nginde performed wonders at Chitipa United but he didn’t have the opportunity to return to Silver Stadium as their game was played at the Civo Stadium with Silver undergoing rehabilitation.

Nginde said he is aware of Silver Strikers’ good run of results but he has told his boys not to be afraid of it.

“Silver Strikers are a very good team,” he said. “They are currently leading [the table], we are aware of it. But we are not afraid of them, we are not thinking of losing points to them, we will play according to how we know them. We will do whatever is required to do to get the three points.”

It is expected to be an emotional return for Macdonald, but the Bankers are dreaming after hiring Peter Mponda.

Since he departed from the Club, four Coaches have spearheaded the technical panel, with only Kabwe powering the team to the silverware as he won the FDH Bank Cup.

Pieter De Jongh finished second last season with a cup final. However, the Bankers look to move organized this season with the arrival of Mponda, a serial winner as described by the Club’s Chief Executive Officer, Patrick Chimimba.

The Bankers are yet to taste a defeat this season after playing five games. They have won four and drew one against Dedza Dynamos.

CRECK Sporting Club are coming from a 1-all stalemate against Karonga United while the Bankers were 2-0 winners over Baka City.
