CRECK Sporting Club overpowered their fellow rookies, Friends of Mulanje Orphans, FOMO Football Club on Saturday at Civo Stadium to return to winning ways after four games without a win.
Stain Patrick’s first-half strike was enough for the Apostle Kawinga’s men to bag all three points and move 8th on the table with 10 points, level with Moyale Barracks who settled for a barren stalemate against their brothers in arms, Kamuzu Barracks at Aubrey Dimba Stadium.

What Happened? After two back-to-back wins in the opening weeks of the season, Macdonald Nginde Mtetemera’s side bathed in the confidence of pulling miracles in the 2024 TNM Super League but they faced a reality check on their first away trip to Blantyre as they were hammered 3-0 by Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.
Hoping to bounce back, CRECK welcomed Mzuzu City Hammers in their next game after Wanderers, but they lost 2-1 at home before playing a 1-1 draw against Karonga United.
Heading into today’s game against FOMO FC, CRECK Sporting Club were coming from a 2-0 defeat to Silver Strikers and their ambition was sensed just five minutes into the game as Alnord Kiyamba called the visitors defenders to deal with his corner kick.
FOMO FC heading into the game, they were coming from a 1-all draw against Baka City at home, and they were hunting for their first away win.
A tug-of-war as the pendulum kept on swinging from side to side with high teams failing to utilize their chances. Shukran hid his face in disbelief after bundling his effort wide with the goal yawning from close range.

CRECK Sporting Club were in front just before the break. George Chaomba was not available when his team faced his former team, Silver Strikers and his return against FOMO FC was a positive for the hosts.
With his fast feet and pace, the visitors were finding it hard to stop him. With the clock ticking, approaching the halftime whistle, Chaomba won a free-kick just outside the penalty area. Arnold Kiyama took a short kick to Tathedwa Willard whose shot was blocked to find Stain Patrick who connected it home.
CRECK were a better team just after the recess and Babangida Ishaya saw his effort rattling the upright with the keeper already out of options just two minutes into the second half.
FOMO FC were pushing for an equaliser thereby opening their defence and Akuzike Lifa nearly grabbed the second for the hosts but his header missed the target with just inches.
What does it mean? CRECK Sporting Club have now won three games in their opening seven games, and they will be looking to continue from there in their next games.
FOMO FC have missed the chance to move higher up on the table and they have been pulled to 12th with 7 points.
