Mighty Wanderers Football Club Head Coach, Bob Mpinganjira, is keeping a laser focus on his team’s performance rather than the standings, despite their blistering start to the TNM Super League season.
The Nomads are currently the only unbeaten team in the league, fueling speculation that they are serious title contenders.
Wanderers have been in dominant form, securing six wins and one draw from their first seven games. This impressive run places them second in the league, just two points behind leaders FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, who have played an extra game. This leaves the Nomads in a strong position to claim the top spot should they win their game in hand.

Following their convincing 3-0 victory over Kamuzu Barracks, Mpinganjira was quick to dismiss questions about the title race. “We are not looking at what others are doing,” he stated emphatically.
“We are focusing on our games, taking each game seriously and then win them. We are moving forward, happy with how we are playing and satisfied. We are minding our games, we don’t care what is happening with others, as long as we win our games, we are happy.”
The last time Wanderers achieved such a strong start, winning six of their first seven games, was in 2017, a season in which they ultimately lifted the league trophy. That year, they defeated Kamuzu Barracks, Dwangwa FC, Wizards FC, Mafco FC, Blantyre United, and Red Lions, while drawing against Mighty Tigers.
Meanwhile, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Head Coach, Peter Mponda, acknowledges the heightened competition this season. “It is getting tough each passing day, something that has not been seen in recent years.
“The tight competition is really good for football, I am very happy with the way the season is penning out. That said, we are still in the early days and we have a long way to go. We will have a clear picture after about 20 games or so,” Mponda commented.
Wanderers are eager to end their title drought, having not won the league since their 2017 triumph, and their current form suggests they are well-equipped to challenge for the championship this season.
