Bangwe All Stars have been crowned the 2024 Betika Sapitwa 4 Pre-season matches champions following a 2-1 victory against Mighty Tigers on Sunday afternoon in a game played at Mulanje Park Stadium.
The victory means that Bangwe All Stars have managed to win a tournament they won last year at the same venue and beating the same opposition in the final.
To reach the finals, Bangwe All Stars claimed a 1-0 victory against Dedza Dynamos FC while Mighty Tigers were 1-0 winners over FOMO FC on Saturday.

The Kanjedza based outfit, were the first to score through Zikani Munthali but their lead didn’t last long as Davie Tobias equalized deep in the first half to make it 1-1.
Come second half, Friday Osagie provided the green light for the Christopher Nyambose side to win the game as Tigers failed to respond despite having numerous chances.
Speaking after the game, head coach of Bangwe All Stars Christopher Nyambose who got fired by Mighty Tigers some months ago, did not hide his excitement after beating his former club.
“I believe I have proved a point on who is the best coach looking at today’s results,” Nyambose said.
He then said that the competition has given him a clear picture on what he has to do before the kick-off of the season.
Technical Director for Mighty Tigers Robin Alufandika, congratulated the winning team for their victory.
“It’s part of the game and it has given us an opportunity to prepare better for the new season and we are ready to go,” Alufandika said.
In his remarks, lead organiser for the tournament Chimwemwe Nyirenda expressed his satisfaction with what has been achieved in the two-day competition.
“It was just bigger and better more than last season and we’re happy with that,” Nyirenda said.
He then revealed that they will add more teams come next year but the competition will take place at Mulanje Park Stadium again,” Nyirenda said.
He further added that they will consider adding some women’s football teams in the next edition.
Concurring to Nyirenda, country Manager for Betika Gift Govati said they are ready to sponsor next year’s edition with more teams.
“We are happy and satisfied with the response from the fans and we are ready to come again next year,” Govati said.
Earlier during the match day two, Newly promoted TNM Super League side FOMO FC were 5-4 penalty shootout winners against Dedza Dynamos FC to finish third after the game ended 1-1 during regulation time.
