Baka endured a difficult start to the season, and they have had three coaches leading the technical panel within a space of three months. Davie Myombe has been leading the team following Oscar Kaunda’s resignation and Kondwani Mwalwen saw his first game as Acting Coach ending in a stalemate.

“The problem is that we had defensive minds in the second half and we lost the concentration. We gave away the goal, it was a game that we could hold on until the last whistle,” said Mwalwen after the game.

Baka City wore a new face early in the game forcing CRECK into defensive duties twice in the first 10 minutes. Talandila Chigaula was called to rescue CRECK from a set piece, and Charles Chisale thwarted Baka’s attempt. Three corner-kicks in 13 minutes, and Macdonald Nginde Mtetemera sensed that the hosts had an interest in winning the game, he told his bench to warm up. Yamikani Tambala was rested for Ademora Ajibola. We are under pressure.

CRECK Sporting Club couldn’t sit on the edge of razor blades as Baka City FC took the lead through Geoffrey Mwakyembe who beat Charles Chisale as his effort was parried into the back of the net.

Nginde needed an equalizer before the break. CRECK pushed but Baka stood firm. Arnold Kiyama’s shot was parried away by goalkeeper Omary Hamiss just before the break. The hosts took a slender lead at the break.

Just after the restart, CRECK Sporting Club hunted for the goal. Baka City failed to absorb the pressure. Substitute, Ajibola cancelled Baka’s lead after receiving the ball from Stain Patrick.

Baka City FC will be looking to find the winning formula to avoid Chitipa’s unwanted record of playing 12 games without a win.

“Once we find the formula, we can win games. I can see potential in these players, most is them are young, and they are yet to play in the TNM Super League,” added Mwalwen.
