Mighty Wanderers Women head coach Thom Kazembe has expressed serious concern about his team’s poor home form in the National Bank of Malawi National Women’s Premiership, calling for immediate action to address the problem.
The team has failed to record a single victory at home this season, despite winning all their away fixtures – a paradox that has left them in a less favorable position than they could have been with proper home advantage.

The Nomads have lost both their home matches while maintaining a perfect record away from home, defeating Moyale Sisters, Topik Academy, and Kukoma Ntopwa. However, they suffered defeats to Central Region giants Ascent Academy and Silver Women on their home turf.
“It’s now worrying because we are yet to win at home, so we have to see where we are going wrong, motivate the players, and emphasize the importance of home points to the girls,” said Kazembe.

The coach said he is managing the team patiently as his players are gradually adapting to top-level football, with most being youngsters still learning to handle the pressure of facing the country’s elite sides.
The team’s struggles at home extend beyond just points – they have also failed to find the back of the net in their home fixtures, losing 2-0 to Ascent Academy and 1-0 to Silver Strikers Women in Blantyre.
Notably, four teams in the league remain unbeaten away from home: Mighty Wanderers Women, Ascent Academy, and Silver Women have all won their away fixtures, while Civil Women has recorded two draws and one win on the road.
The Nomads currently sit fourth in the league with nine points from five games, six points behind leaders Silver Women. They have scored six goals while conceding four this season.
The team will look to maintain their perfect away record and secure their first victory over a Lilongwe-based team when they face Civil Women at the Civo Stadium on Saturday in Week 6 fixtures.
