Mighty Wanderers FC has formally requested the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) to reschedule their TNM Super League fixture against Ekhaya FC, originally set for Thursday, to next Wednesday, reports Nation Sport.
In a letter to Sulom Chief Executive Officer, Wanderers’ CEO Panganeni Ndovi explained that the club would prefer to play the league match after their FDH Bank Cup quarter-final clash against Creck Sporting Club at Dimba Stadium in Mchinji this Sunday.
The postponement request centers on player welfare and adequate preparation time. According to the letter, several Wanderers first-team players are currently on national team duty and will only return to Lilongwe on Wednesday.

“In view of the short turnaround time between their arrival and the scheduled match, the players would not have sufficient opportunity to recover, reintegrate into the team, and undertake the necessary tactical preparations,” the letter states.
Club Cites Fair Play and Professional Standards
Wanderers emphasized that the request aligns with professional football administration principles. The club argues that the adjustment would help maintain the integrity and quality of the competition while ensuring fair play and adequate player welfare.
“Given the importance of maintaining the integrity and quality of the competition and in the spirit of ensuring fair play and adequate player welfare, we believe that a short adjustment to the match date is both reasonable and consistent with the principles underpinning professional football administration,” Ndovi wrote.
The club has indicated its willingness to work with Sulom on any logistical arrangements needed to facilitate the schedule change.
“We remain at your disposal to discuss any logistical adjustments necessary to facilitate the change,” the letter concluded.
Sulom is yet to respond to the postponement request.
