Karonga United are coming from a 1-all stalemate against the Rookies, CRECK Sporting Club at home, Oscar Kaunda is making a return to Mighty Mukuru Wanderers where he worked in the dugout years ago.

Hanging seventh with 8 points from five games, Kaunda says Karonga United are in the commercial city looking to upend ‘happy’ Nomads though he knows that it will not come on a facilely.

“Definitely, it is going to be a very tough game and a good game to watch for both our suppers and Wanderers supporters but we are going to collect maximum points. We are coming from a draw against CRECK Sporting Club and we are looking for maximum points.

“We are ready for the game, and we are very much prepared and the boys are geared to do well at Kamuzu Stadium. [Supporters] should expect a lot, it will be a tough one but we want to collect maximum points and give them,” he tells the Club’s Media.

Meke Mwase accepted the “race to run” against the Crocodiles in a 1430hr kick-off.

“We have a race to run. We haven’t done well in the previous two games by dropping points. It is an issue of serious concern and we have been working hard in the training to return to winning ways,” he said in an interview with the Club’s Media.

Wadabwa hints at a new position to suit Gaddie

After noting the wastefulness of the team in front of the goal, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers made a bold decision to appoint their former striker, Peter Wadabwa to be the trainer of their “misfiring” strikers.

Out of the 8 goals that they have scored this season, only three belong to a striker while Peter Cholopi, Wisdom Mpinganjira, Isaac Kaliyati, Stanley Sanudi, and Felix Zulu own a goal each.

Christopher Kumwembe has scored two goals, but that’s not the start that he was hoping for. Last season he had already plundered over 5 goals by this time, a performance that saw him making Vincent Nyangulu a bench-warmer.

Wadabwa who started discharging duties and expertise this week said he will undress Kumwembe the leading role in attack and advocate for Gaddie Chirwa for the number nine.

He tells Wa Ganyu that his first work will be to recommend that Gaddie Chirwa should be playing in front as a striker and not operating from the wing.

He said, “He has a lot of attributes in terms of speed and dribbling and technique, I feel like if he plays in that position it will help. It is a process of course as I have just started work this week. I want to teach him what I was doing, and then I will recommend him to the coaches when that is done.”

The seven-time Super League Champions have been bossing the fixture and they are unbeaten in their previous four meetings and winning all of them. Karonga United won the tie twice in 2021 with an aggregate scoreline of 4-0 and Sherrif Shamama plundered all four games.

Karonga lost some of their key players who joined the struggling Bangwe All Stars but they seem not to have lost their swagger though they are still suffering from Erik Atsigah’s hangovers as they have shipped as many as goals that they have scored, 7.

Karonga have collected 4 points on the road this season, winning once and drawing once. Wanderers have collected four points at home, winning once and drawing once.

Saulos Moyo enjoys his good scoring form as he has managed to find the back of the net three times in three consecutive games. The visitors have managed to score in their last five games against the Nomads.
