Mighty Mukuru Wanderers assistant coach, Meke Mwase, said they corrected problems they encountered against Kamuzu Barracks and this is why they have managed to beat FOMO.
“It is a sweet victory. I said already that we looked into those errors we faced when playing Kamuzu Barracks and it really worked, now we scored those goals and won, we are very happy for the win,” said Mwase.
Meanwhile, FOMO FC coach, Gilbert Chirwa said loss of concentration from his side led them to be punished by the Nomads in the match.
“It was a good game, we started very well in the first half and it was 0-0 at half time but come second half, we conceded those goals in 10 minutes, I think we lacked concentration at the back and our friends punished us but it’s a new side, we will come back stronger.” Said Chirwa.
The Nomads were aggressive as they attacked from all angles in the first 20 minutes as Clement Nyondo, Wisdom Mpinganjira, Christopher Kumwembe and Gaddie Chirwa saw their chances failing to kiss the net in unbelievable circumstances. Prince Kajore and Duncan Mbewe had their chances blasted over the bar as FOMO started settling but Chaziya sent his header straight to goalkeeper before being replaced by Peter Cholopi due to an injury on 42nd minutes and the two teams could not score after 45 minutes.
A strong start in the second half for the Nomads was proven by a Felix Zulu’s brilliant opener on 50th minute before Mpinganjira’s powerful shot he produced 71 seconds later and it turned out to be a goal before Peter Cholopi had headed in a Stanley Sanudi’s corner kick on 54th minute to kill the match. Sheriff Maida, Hassan Luwembe and Noel Phiri were sent in for Christopher Phiri, Thomson Magombo and Happy Phiri whereas Francisco Madinga and Isaac Kaliati replaced Zulu and Chirwa as the Nomads continued their dominance.
White Kitsen and Madalitso Maso were also sent in for Wally Gondwe and Mike Banda for the hosts while Ramadan handed Dan Kudonto a debut who came in together with Misheck Botomani for Wisdom Mpinganjira and Kumwembe.
Following the win, the Nomads are fourth on the table with four points from their two games played while FOMO are 9th on the table with three points they got in their first game of the season.
Silver Strikers, Creck Sporting Club and Mzuzu City Hammers occupy the top three as they have 6 points and separated by goal difference while Dedza Dynamos, Baka City and Bangwe All Stars sit comfortably in the relegation zone.
