An own goal in the first half by Robert Kolneli and Second goals from Alex Kambirinya, Irvine Mwakapenda, and Masambelo Kalua were enough for Mighty Waka Waka Tigers to pick their third win of the season after hammering Baka City 4-1 at the Kamuzu Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
The Kaukau boys displayed a massive performance in the match but missed a lot of chances before having a 6-minute party in the second half to score three goals but Taniel Mhango’s late consolation goal could not do any harm.

Head coach for Tigers, Leo Mpulula, said he was happy to record the win but still claimed there were a lot of things that needed to be rectified mostly in terms of shaping the team after missing a lot of goal-able chances.
“It was a good game because we won 4-1 but there’s much to be done mostly in terms of shaping today three points were good as well.” Said Mpulula.
Meanwhile, Davie Muyombe, an interim coach at Baka City, said his team will not be relegated this season as they only missed a couple of players due to injuries including their first-choice goalkeeper, and the reserve one gave it three easy goals.
“We did not play well maybe as we did two weeks ago against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets but I think it’s because we had changes to the team due to 6 injuries that we are having and also we let in three silly goals I think that’s why cost us today.” Said Muyombe.
The hosts started on a high note after having a disallowed goal due to offside in the 8th minute by Precious Chipungu before Masambelo Kalua shot wide in his attempt but the pressure was too much for Baka City which saw Robert Kolneli guiding them into his own net on the 24th minute.
Tigers made an early change, introducing Iven Mwakapenda for Precious Kwalenga in the 29th minute before Zikani Munthali missed a glorious chance to double the scores 10 minutes later and it ended with the Tigers leading by a goal at halftime.
Mpulula introduced Precious Chiudza for Munthali in the 52nd minute as Baka made also two changes, Gule Mwaitsope and Cloude Mkoko replaced Robert Time and Maxwell Mangwere before other changes in the 65th minute when Taniel Mhango and Tambula Mwale replaced Wongani Kamanga and Nature Kaonga.
Alex Kambirinya doubled the scores after finishing off Masambelo Kalua’s ball in the 70th minute before Iven Mwakapenda’s hammering shot two minutes later extended the lead and after Mezaya Kachingwe had replaced Chipungu, Masambelo Kalua scored from outside of the box on 76th minute for Tigers fourth. Taniel Mhango scored one back in the 85th minute but the Kaukau boys had already completed the massacre.
Following the results, Tigers have jumped from 8th to fifth as they have 11 points from 7 games after recording three wins, two draws, and two losses while Baka City are yet to win as they have lost five and drawn twice to have 2 points on position 16.
