Mzuzu City Hammers suffered another humbling defeat on Sunday afternoon at Civo Stadium, losing 4-0 to Civil Service United.
After 14 games, the Hammers remain slumped in the bottom three of the table with just eight points. They have the second-most conceded goals in the league with 27, while only scoring nine goals themselves.

The Hammers, who finished fourth last season, have already suffered 10 defeats this season. Only bottom-placed Songwe have lost more games with 13. They have won twice and drawn twice.
The team made managerial changes recently, with Elias Chirambo returning to the club. He had previously been fired in mid-season of 2024. Chirambo has been at the helm for four games and is yet to win a match.
The Hammers have now lost five consecutive games, with defeats to Creck Sporting, Mighty Wanderers, Mighty Tigers, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, and Civil Service United. They haven’t scored a goal in their last six matches.
Speaking after the 4-0 defeat on Sunday, Chirambo insisted the team is improving.
“I have to accept that we have lost this game,” Chirambo said. “We have so many injuries in our team, and this has affected our performance. Things are not tough on us. I’m a newly signed coach, and we have played four games, and we are improving.”
“We are not going to be relegated. We played well against Bullets, Wanderers, and Tigers, but today, because of injuries, we failed to perform well against Civil. I’m trying to improve the team. We suffered three injuries against Bullets, but I can say the team is improving. This team will not be relegated.”
Mzuzu City Hammers will face Silver Strikers at home in their next game.
