Malawian international and Kansas City Current forward, Temwa Chawinga, continues her stellar form, bagging her eighth goal of the season in a thrilling 4-2 victory over Racing Louisville FC in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) this morning.
Chawinga’s clinical finish came in the 95th minute, showcasing her exceptional pace and skill. After chasing down a ball despite a defender’s head start, she remarkably dispossessed her opponent, then elegantly weaved past two more defenders and the goalkeeper before calmly slotting the ball into the net.
This latest strike brings Chawinga’s season tally to eight goals, placing her just one behind the league’s leading scorer, Esther Gonzalez Rodriguez of Gotham FC. She now shares the second spot with Barbra Banda of Orlando Pride.
The Kansas City Current’s dominant performance further solidified their position at the summit of the NWSL standings, with 30 points from 12 games. They now hold a comfortable five-point lead over second-placed Orlando Pride.
