A good number of teams are chasing the signature of Mighty Wanderers Reserve forward Stain Matengere Jr, who is reportedly yet to sign an extension with the Nomads despite continuing to play for the team.
The forward’s contract expired in December 2024, and he turned down an extension as the promise of being promoted to the main team was not fulfilled.
During pre-season, Matengere switched allegiances as he joined Ekhaya FC, where he nearly signed a contract before Mighty Wanderers stepped in to block the move, claiming the player belongs to their developmental side.

The player has been part of the Reserve side in the Thumbs Up Southern Region Football League during the 2025 season, where he has already bagged five goals and two assists as the Junior Nomads remain unbeaten in 11 matches.
However, reports suggest that the player has attracted interest from TNM Super League teams such as rookies Songwe Border United and Karonga United, who want him on loan, while Creck Sporting Club and Blue Eagles are eyeing a permanent move.
Some of the teams have also approached Mr. John Bolvart, who owns a team known as Tikhale FC, where Matengere was developed before joining the Nomads and who assists him in some career decisions.
“A number of teams are indeed looking for his services, but I think I have to understand his situation at Wanderers. I’m yet to talk to him and ask about his thoughts on the move,” said Mr. Bolvart.
Meanwhile, our publication spoke to Matengere, who said he knows nothing about the offers from other teams and also declined to comment on his contract at Wanderers.
“I know nothing, and it is hard to comment on these issues. I am not in a better position to respond to all of this,” said Matengere.
The teenager has been sensational for the Nomads Reserve side, netting 14 goals and providing 6 assists last season, and he remains the team’s main man this season.
