Football Association of Malawi and the Ministry of Youth and Sports on Tuesday held a meeting in Lilongwe where Minister, Uchizi Mkandawire asked for clarity from FAM President, Fleetwood Haiya on the misunderstanding between Sulom and TNM Plc.
“We had discussions with TNM and they will still sponsor the league as Premier Bet will sponsor football in another way,” said Haiya.
Following Sulom’s agreement with Premier Bet, TNM Plc failed to show up for the opening fixtures of the league and their brands were absent too.
In the second week of the league, the sponsors were available, and their brands too. They also rolled out the selling of E-ticketing.
Premier Bet would sponsor Malawi’s topflight league with money to the tune of MK260 Million which is expected to be channeled towards Player of the Month, coach of the Month, Journalist of the Month, and Team of the Month among others.
From the package, K160 million would be channeled towards the clubs with each getting K10 million, The player of the month would be pocketing MK200,000, and so too Coach of the Month. The team of the Month would pocket MK1.1 Million while the Journalist of the month will get MK100,000.
Earlier this year, TNM Plc vowed to triple sponsorship from MK150 Million this season but the new packages are yet to be announced.
