Songwe Border United head coach Christopher Nyambose is holding onto optimism despite his team’s dismal start to the TNM Super League season, which has seen them go winless in their first ten matches.
Nyambose’s remarks followed a heavy 4-0 defeat to Chitipa United this afternoon at Karonga Stadium. Goals from Rajab Nyirenda, Trouble Kajani, Mabuchi Msiska, and Andrew Joseph secured a comfortable victory for Chitipa United.
“It is a very bad and painful defeat. But we have ourselves to blame,” said Nyambose. “We only have a few players performing. In the next transfer window, we will bring in new players who can hold the ball. Songwe supporters shouldn’t worry, the team is not going anywhere.”

Songwe Border United currently languish at the bottom of the TNM Super League table, having collected just one point from their opening ten fixtures. Their campaign began with a solitary draw, but this has been followed by nine consecutive losses, leaving them in a precarious position as the season progresses.
The team has struggled significantly in both defense and attack. Their backline has consistently conceded multiple goals, while their offensive efforts have often lacked the penetration needed to trouble opposing teams.
Despite the mounting pressure and the team’s dire league standing, Nyambose remains steadfast in his belief that Songwe Border United can avoid relegation, pinning his hopes on strategic player acquisitions during the upcoming transfer window.
