Songwe Border United’s head coach, Christopher Nyambose, is seeing a glimmer of hope for his team, even after their 0-2 defeat against Mighty Wanderers. Despite it being their 10th loss in 11 matches in their debut season, Nyambose was quick to praise his players’ performance.
“Firstly, I have to congratulate my boys for their performance today,” Nyambose stated after the match. “They played well, despite the bad result. I’m very impressed with their performance today.”
Nyambose believes this improved play could be a turning point for the team’s fortunes in the TNM Super League. He hopes they can replicate this effort in upcoming matches to start accumulating points.

“If we continue playing like this in other games, then we will have many points in the League, and what I have been saying—that we will not be relegated—could become true,” he added. “The flame of the team is now looking good, and there is a new hope in the team.”
While optimistic, Nyambose acknowledged that his team was beaten by a stronger side, commending the Nomads on their own impressive play.
Songwe Border United held the mighty Wanderers to a goalless first half. The deadlock was broken after 55 minutes by Wisdom Mpinganjira’s goal, followed by an own goal forced by Blessings Mwalilino.
With just one point from a single draw and ten losses, Songwe Border United remains at the bottom of the 16-team log, the only team yet to secure a win in the TNM Super League.
