The prolific goal scorer for the Malawi National Women’s Football Team, the Scorchers, Asimenye Simwaka, has expressed delight with her performance in the friendly matches against Lesotho.
The two teams met twice: on Friday, 29 August, and again on Sunday, 31 August. In both encounters, the Scorchers secured victories, each by a margin of three goals to nil.
Simwaka scored a total of five goals — two in the first match and three in the second.

She said the matches were a good test of her readiness as the Scorchers prepare to face Angola in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in October alongside playing in a COSAFA tournament in the same month.
“The friendly matches that FAM arranged for us against Lesotho have helped us both as a team and individually. I am happy that I performed well,” Simwaka explained.
She also took the opportunity to thank her teammates for their high-level performance and for helping her find the back of the net in both games.
