The club also issued a statement confirming Gwengwe’s departure, revealing that the player had declined an offer to extend his contract in order to pursue new opportunities elsewhere.

“The club can confirm that we say farewell to Shaquille Gwengwe after three seasons in the black and white. Shaq turned down an offer to return this season in order to explore his options elsewhere and announced his departure last night on Twitter with a thank-you message to the fans,” read the statement from Dorchester Town.

Gwengwe enjoyed a productive spell at The Magpies, finishing as the club’s top scorer in both the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons. His debut campaign saw him net 13 goals and provide 5 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
He followed that up with an even more impressive second season, scoring 17 goals and adding 3 assists in 43 matches.

Although his third and final season (2024/25) saw a slight dip in form, Gwengwe still managed to register 10 goals and 6 assists in 40 appearances — helping Dorchester secure a fourth-place finish and a place in the Southern Premier Division playoffs.

Despite his solid contribution, Gwengwe has opted to seek a new challenge, with his next destination yet to be announced.

Born in England to Malawian parents, Gwengwe remains eligible to represent both England and Malawi at international level. Although he has yet to feature for either national team, his consistent performances at club level have caught the attention of football observers in both countries.
