Malawi Women’s National Football Team coach Lovemore Fazili has released his final squad for this month’s Three-Nation Tournament in Lilongwe, scheduled for 28 to 30 November.

The competition will serve as the Scorchers’ key preparatory platform ahead of next year’s continental engagements in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Fazili has maintained the core group that featured in the recent WAFCON qualification battle against Angola, signalling his intention to build continuity rather than experiment.

Goalkeeper Yamikani Kaonga is the only absentee from that squad due to injury, with Thoko Mwase stepping in as her replacement.

The coach said his decision to avoid major changes was deliberate, emphasising that the team is currently in good rhythm and needs consolidation.

“This is not the time to make too many trials. The squad showed hunger and strong form against Angola, and we want to strengthen that momentum,” he said.

However, Fazili stressed that the door remains open for outstanding performers in the NBM Women’s Premiership as the team looks ahead to the next stage of WAFCON preparations: “Players who excel in the league still have a chance. Anything can happen in football, and we continue to monitor everyone closely.”

He further applauded the Football Association of Malawi for organising the tournament, describing proper preparation as the backbone of future success.

Fazili noted that early planning is vital: “Good beginnings come from good preparation, and we appreciate FAM for making this possible.”
