Scintillating midfielder Chikumbutso Salima has emerged as the standout performer in the elite league this season, and his impact on FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ title charge cannot be overstated.
Salima’s remarkable goal involvement statistics tell the story of a player operating at the peak of his powers. Through 18 weeks, the dynamic playmaker has been directly involved in goals in every single league match he has featured in this campaign.

His latest masterclass came on Saturday as Bullets demolished Dedza Dynamos 3-0, with Salima at the heart of all the action. The versatile midfielder scored the opener, provided an assist for the second goal, and saw his shot deflect off a defender for the third – a perfect hat-trick of contributions that epitomized his influence on the team.
With 9 goals and 10 assists to his name, Salima has racked up an impressive 19 goal involvements from his 15 appearances. His goal tally leaves him just two behind leading scorer and teammate Babatunde Adepoju, while his 10 assists put him three clear of his nearest rivals – Wisdom Mpinganjira of Mighty Wanderers and Blessings Malinda of Ekhaya FC.
The victory over Dedza completed a comfortable double over their opponents, following a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture earlier in the season. More importantly, with title rivals Mighty Wanderers distracted by their CAF commitments, Bullets seized the opportunity to open up a crucial four-point gap at the summit.
Bullets Assistant Coach Gilbert Chirwa was full of praise for Salima’s display and highlighted the player’s tactical development.
“Performance like this lifts the whole team,” Chirwa observed. “Salima has had a huge impact today. He scored the first goal, provided the second goal, and his shot forced an own goal. He has added another dimension to his game.”
This tactical versatility and consistent end product have transformed Salima into the driving force behind Bullets’ serious title challenge. His ability to influence games across multiple phases of play – whether through goals, assists, or general creative play – has elevated the entire team’s performance level.
