Chikumbutso Salima has been named FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ Player of the Month for July, securing the HTD-sponsored award with a commanding lead over his teammates. Salima’s impressive performances earned him 50.14% of the 706 votes cast by supporters, showcasing his significant impact on the team’s results.
The race for the award was tight, with Salima and goalkeeper Innocent Nyasulu emerging as the top contenders. However, it was Salima’s consistent threat and key contributions that ultimately won over the voters.
Salima’s standout moment came in the Airtel Top Cup final against Silver Strikers at Bingu National Stadium. His electrifying performance helped set the tone for the game. He won a crucial penalty, although it was unfortunately missed, and continued to be a constant menace to the opposition. Bullets went on to win the final in a penalty shootout.

In addition to his cup heroics, Salima also played a pivotal role in the team’s league campaign. He scored a late opening goal in a vital 2-0 away victory against Mzuzu City Hammers, a result that was sealed by teammate Hassan Kajoke.
Goalkeeper Innocent Nyasulu, who also had an outstanding month, came in second place with 34.4% of the votes. Nyasulu’s heroics included saving a penalty against Silver Strikers in the cup final and another against Mzuzu City Hammers. He also kept clean sheets against both Hammers and Mafco FC, proving to be a formidable last line of defense.
Blessings Mpokera and Ephraim Kondowe also received nominations, earning 12.89% and 2.83% of the votes, respectively.
Salima’s win marks his second time receiving the award, having also been named Player of the Month in May. The previous winners were Babatunde Adepoju in April and Blessings Mpokera in June.
As the July Player of the Month, Salima will be awarded a cash prize of MK600,000 and a miniature from HTD, the official distributor for KIA Motors, Total Tools & Equipment, and SYM Scooters.
