Chikumbutso Salima has put all transfer speculation to rest, declaring his new three-year contract with FCB Nyasa Big Bullets as “the best decision I have made.” The talented attacker’s commitment snubs strong overtures from ambitious rookies Ekhaya FC, who were reportedly monitoring his contract situation closely.
Salima’s previous deal was set to expire in January next year, meaning he had entered the final six months, allowing him to negotiate with potential suitors.

Ekhaya FC emerged as the primary club linked with his signature, with reports suggesting a tempting MK15 million signing-on fee, along with bonuses and a lucrative salary. However, Salima’s priority consistently remained staying with the club that nurtured his talent.
His decision to extend came after he sought a salary increment from the club that groomed him. Before their loan spell at Bangwe All Stars, both Salima and Yamikani Mologeni signed three-year contracts with Bullets, as then-coach Kalisto Pasuwa aimed for their development and Super League experience.
The duo thrived at Bangwe, establishing themselves as hot prospects and helping the team to a sixth-place finish in the 2023 season.
Upon their return to Bullets in 2024, Salima quickly made his mark despite increased competition. He’s since accumulated 39 appearances and scored 13 goals across all competitions.
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets officially announced on Thursday morning that the 23-year-old Flames International had committed to a new three-year deal.
“I have made the right choice to remain at Bullets,” Salima told the club’s media. “This is a club that helped me grow, I know that I have more to achieve. I’m happy to commit my future here. My mind was made up [when there were stories about other clubs]. I didn’t pay attention, I want to continue developing and continue helping the team.”
Salima has been a standout performer for head coach Peter Mponda this season, excelling whether deployed as a left number 10 or a left-wing back in Mponda’s 3-4-3 system. The attacker boasts an impressive nine goal contributions (four goals, five assists) in just seven TNM Super League matches.
Head Coach Peter Mponda has lauded Salima’s decision to stay, emphasizing it as a display of loyalty and commitment.
“I’m pleased to see Chiku [Salima] staying,” Mponda said. “He understands the value of loyalty. He is enjoying great form, and his decision to stay speaks volumes about his focus and vision. He is part of our long-term plan; players like Chikumbutso are the foundation of what we are building here.”
