FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have reached an agreement with midfielder Ernest Petro to terminate his contract, with the player’s lack of playing time cited as the primary reason for the mutual decision.
According to Twaha Chimuka, Petro initially requested a loan move to secure more playing time, with Creck Sporting Club identified as his preferred destination. However, the club advised him to terminate his contract instead, a decision he has now accepted.
The midfielder was a regular starter under former coach Kalisto Pasuwa and memorably scored the winning goal in the 2024 Airtel Top 8 final against Silver Strikers. However, he has found himself out of favor under new coach Peter Mponda.

Despite the team’s midfield struggles this season, Petro has been largely sidelined, making only two substitute appearances. He was also left unused in the recent Blantyre Derby against Mighty Wanderers, warming up four times during their 1-0 defeat without being brought on.
The player’s contract was set to run until the end of January 2026, following an extension he signed in 2023 due to his reliability and strong relationship with then-coach Pasuwa.
Known by his nickname “Ngwazi,” Petro joined the People’s Team in 2017 and enjoyed considerable success during his tenure. He helped the club win five league trophies and numerous cups, including their historic quadruple-winning campaign in 2023.
The departure marks the end of a successful eight-year association between the player and one of Malawi’s most successful football clubs.
