FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are set to receive a substantial MK78 million from the transfer of their key midfielder, Yankho Singo, who is on the verge of completing a move to South African Betway Premier Soccer League side, Lamontville Golden Arrows.
The Flames midfielder is expected to leave Malawi on Friday to finalize his transfer after five successful seasons with the Bullets’ senior team.
Singo’s departure will undoubtedly create a significant gap in the Bullets’ midfield as they pursue the 2025 TNM Super League title.

While the team already boasts a strong squad with numerous midfield options, the need for increased squad depth will likely prompt them to seek a new addition to their ranks. They signed Paul Master on free transfer.
Here are some of the promising local players who could potentially step into Singo’s role at Bullets should they think of signing a new midfielder
Possible Replacements for Yankho Singo
Yankho Billiati (Civil Service United)

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will likely prioritize a player with similar qualities to Yankho Singo, ideally one versatile enough to operate in various positions. Civil Service United’s Yankho Billiati emerges as a prime candidate.
The former Green Rangers player can seamlessly slot into three different roles: right-back, center-back, and defensive midfielder. His contract is set to expire at the end of this season, having signed a two-year deal last year when he joined from Rangers.
His contract reportedly includes a buyout clause of MK10 million, and with less than six months remaining on his current deal, Bullets might be able to negotiate a more favorable price.
Charles Nkhoma (Moyale Barracks)

Moyale Barracks’ midfield anchor, Charles Nkhoma, is widely regarded as one of Malawi’s top defensive midfielders. His recent call-up to the National Team is a testament to his consistent performance. However, signing Nkhoma could prove challenging for Bullets.
He has over a year left on his contract, and as a soldier, securing his release from Moyale Barracks would add another layer of complexity to any potential deal.
Moses Banda (Civil Service United)

Civil Service United’s skipper, Moses Banda, was previously close to joining Silver Strikers, though the deal ultimately fell through for undisclosed reasons.
Banda has been a pivotal figure for the Servants in recent years and could be an ideal candidate to replace Singo at Bullets. However, the terms of his contract might be a hurdle, as he is believed to have a release clause of approximately MK15 million.
Interestingly, Banda has not featured in Civil’s recent two games against Silver Strikers and Creck Sporting Club, which could hint at ongoing negotiations.
Chikondi Kamanga (Silver Strikers)
Silver Strikers’ captain, Chikondi Kamanga, is another player Bullets might consider, although this too could be a difficult acquisition.
Kamanga’s three-year deal with Silver Strikers is set to expire in January next year, meaning he will soon enter his final six months. However, securing a player from fierce rivals Silver Strikers has historically proven to be a tough endeavor for Bullets.
