FCB Nyasa Big Bullets attacker Peter Banda has expressed his eagerness to return to competitive action this season, declaring himself ready to fight for a spot in Peter Mponda’s starting lineup after a prolonged recovery from a debilitating shoulder injury.
The former Simba Sporting Club standout aggravated a shoulder dislocation in March 2023 during a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between the Malawi National Team and Egypt at the Air Force Stadium in Cairo.

This persistent injury has significantly hampered the 24-year-old playmaker’s career, even leading to the termination of his contract with Tanzanian side Singida FC.
Bullets, recognizing the untapped potential in the son of their late former midfielder Dr. Chikondi Banda, re-signed Peter Banda for a third time towards the end of last year.
The club demonstrated their commitment to his recovery by sending him to Tanzania for surgery.
Banda has been undergoing rehabilitation since January and is now brimming with confidence about his imminent return to the pitch.
“I hope that I will start playing games soon,” he told local media, adding that his training with the team is progressing well.
However, Head Coach Peter Mponda has cautioned against rushing Banda back into action.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference before their game against Kamuzu Barracks, Mponda emphasized a cautious approach.
“Everyone wants to see him [Peter Banda] soon, but we will not rush him,” Mponda stated. “If we rush him, he can go back to injury. He has been out for so long, so he needs time to be fully fit, but the progress is encouraging.”
Banda first joined Bullets at the age of 18 in 2019 from Griffin Youngsters, quickly establishing himself as a key player.
His impressive performances earned him the Player of the Season award before he secured a move to Moldovan side Sheriff Tiraspol.
