The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has organized an intra-squad friendly match this evening at Bingu National Stadium after Equatorial Guinea failed to honor their 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier fixture against the Flames.
The match, scheduled to kick off at 6:00 PM, will see the national team split into two sides: Flames Possibles versus Flames Probables, with head coach Kalisto Pasuwa leading the Possibles and assistant coach Peter Mponda managing the Probables.

FAM announced around 1:00 PM that the anticipated World Cup qualifier would not proceed after Equatorial Guinea failed to travel to Malawi. FIFA subsequently canceled the fixture.
The cancellation came as a disappointment to fans who had purchased tickets in advance, with some supporters and business owners already gathering at the stadium by midday in anticipation of the international clash.
Preparations Continue
Despite the setback, Pasuwa will use tonight’s training match as crucial preparation for Monday’s final World Cup qualifying campaign fixture against São Tomé and Príncipe in Tunisia.
The Possibles will feature players who were expected to start against Equatorial Guinea, while the Probables comprise reserve players, giving Pasuwa an opportunity to assess squad depth and tactical options.
FAM has confirmed that fans can use their original tickets purchased for the Equatorial Guinea match to gain entry to tonight’s fixture.
Those unable or unwilling to attend may retain their tickets for future use at either the Malawi Women’s National Team WAFCON Qualifier against Angola later this month or any upcoming Flames home matches.
