Midfielder-cum-defender Maxwell Paipi has officially left Silver Strikers as a free agent following the expiry of his contract with the club.
In a statement released by the club on Friday evening, Silver Strikers wished Paipi all the best in his future endeavors after an eight-year association that began when he joined the reserve side in 2017.

“Silver Strikers Company Limited would like to bid farewell to Maxwell Paipi who has left the club after the expiry of his contract,” the statement read.
“Paipi joined us through the Reserve team in 2017 and was promoted to the main team in 2019. Since joining the club, Paipi has shown exceptional talent and hard work, rising through the ranks to become the team’s first Vice Captain.”
The defender-cum-midfielder played a pivotal role in Silver Strikers’ success during his time at the Area 47-based club. He helped the Bankers win the 2019 Airtel Top 8, the 2021 FDH Cup, the 2024 Charity Shield, and the 2024 TNM Super League title. Most recently, Paipi was part of the squad that clinched the 2025 FDH Cup.
The Silver Strikers vice-captain has already traveled to Zimbabwe where he is expected to complete a move to FC Platinum, a club based in Zvishavane, Midlands Province.
Sources indicate that Paipi bid farewell to his teammates after their match against Blue Eagles on December 27, signaling his imminent departure.
The 27-year-old, who captained the Flames during the 2025 Africa Nations Championship qualifiers against Comoros and South Africa, as well as at the Cosafa Cup, has been a mainstay in Silver Strikers’ defense since his promotion from the reserve team.
While Paipi has reportedly agreed personal terms with FC Platinum, details of his contract have not yet been disclosed by either party.
According to earlier reports by Wa Mpira, both Paipi and fellow defender Nixon Mwase were set to leave Silver Strikers at the end of the season.
The duo formed a formidable defensive partnership for the Bankers, playing instrumental roles in the club’s TNM Super League triumph in 2024 and their FDH Bank Cup victory in 2025.
Their departures mark the end of an era for Silver Strikers, who will now need to rebuild their defensive line ahead of the new season.
