Matchweek Nine of the 2025/26 TNM Super League served up a thrilling football spectacle—full of flair, drama, goals, and standout performances.

A total of 13 goals were netted across the country, with Premier Blessings Mwalilino grabbing the headlines after firing home the lone goal that sank FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in the heated Blantyre derby.

Goalkeeper: George Chikooka (Silver Strikers) Last season’s Goalkeeper of the Season lived up to his billing in the Lilongwe derby, pulling off vital saves to keep a clean sheet that powered his side to a 2-0 win over capital city rivals Civil Service United.

Right Back: Stanley Sanudi (Mighty Wanderers) The veteran right back brought experience and class, effectively shutting down Chikumbutso Salima of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets. Sanudi played a crucial role in keeping a clean sheet and securing derby bragging rights for the Nomads.

Centre Back: Nickson Mwase (Silver Strikers) The towering Mwase was rock-solid at the back, shutting out Civil Service United’s attacks with composure and strength to help his side bag three points and a clean sheet in the Lilongwe derby.

Centre Back: Peter Cholopi (Mighty Wanderers) Despite limited game time lately, Cholopi stepped up in the derby and surprised many with a commanding display. He was widely considered for the Man of the Match as he stood firm against Bullets’ fierce attack.

Left Back: Martin Nsewa (Mighty WakaWaka Tigers) The left-footed defender delivered in his team’s 1 all stalemate against Moyale Barracks. His pinpoint cross met Grayson Msowoya who put the team in the lead. Nsewa went on to have a good day at office.

Defensive Midfielder: Blessings Singini (Mighty Wanderers) Singini put in a commanding shift, neutralizing Bullets’ skipper Lloyd Aaron so effectively that the latter was subbed off at halftime. A derby masterclass.

Central Defensive Midfielder: Shukuran Affick (Mighty WakaWaka Tigers) Affick claimed his second consecutive Man of the Match award, starring in the 1-1 draw against Moyale Barracks. His consistency is turning heads after a similar display against Chitipa United the week before.

Attacking Midfielder: Akuzike Lifa (CRECK Sporting Club) The 22-year-old midfield dynamo played a pivotal role in CRECK’s 2-1 comeback win away to MAFCO. His creativity and vision earned him the Man of the Match award.

Left Wing Forward: Festus Duwe (Silver Strikers) Duwe continued his hot form with a stunning strike from outside the box against his former club, Civil Service United. A performance worthy of Team of the Week honors.

Right Wing Forward: Blessings Mwalilino (Mighty Wanderers) The Karonga United signing became an instant hero in his first Blantyre derby, scoring the decisive goal to hand Wanderers their first league derby win since 2021. He earned praise from the Nomads faithful and walked away with several personal gifts.

Centre Forward: Chifuniro Mpinganjira (Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos) The lethal finisher bagged a brace to cancel out goals from Zelieti Nkhoma and Francis Mchema of Kamuzu Barracks, salvaging a crucial point for Dynamos.
