Here is our opinion-based Best XI of Match Week Fourteen compiled by Blessings Chitekwere:

Goalkeeper: George Chikooka (Silver Strikers)

The 2024 TNM Super League Goalkeeper of the Season finished this campaign’s first-round games on a high. He kept a clean sheet against Hammers to help his team secure maximum points.

Right back: McDonald Lameck (Silver Strikers)

Last season’s top assist provider, Lameck, activated the jets against Hammers in Silver’s 2-0 away victory. His overlapping play paid off as he registered an assist for Zebron Kalima’s goal, the second and last of the match. Lameck was voted Man of the Match at the final whistle.

Center back: Peter Ng’ambi (Civil Service United)

The towering defender, good in the air and on the ground, won almost all aerial and ground duels. And if not, he was quick to catch up with the Wanderers’ attackers to clear danger before it got worse. His contribution to the result cannot go unnoticed.

Center back: Emmanuel Nyirenda (Mighty Wanderers)

Nyirenda deserved credit in the draw for his solid performance at the back. He managed to contain Civil’s attack, which has recently been scoring like nobody’s business. The draw helped his team finish the first round unbeaten and on top of the log.

Left back: Damiano Kunje (Civil Service United)

The pint-sized defender stood tallest in defense against Mighty Wanderers in a goalless stalemate at Civo Stadium. Kunje’s experience helped Civil hold the unbeaten Nomads from scoring. He was awarded the Man of the Match accolade for his standout performance.

Defending midfielder: Paul Master (FCB Nyasa Big Bullets)

Master secures his spot in the Team of the Week for a second straight week following an impressive performance and a commanding presence in the midfield for FCB Nyasa Big Bullets. He was the fulcrum for most of the game as Bullets looked to be getting the better of Karonga United before the party was spoiled and the teams shared the spoils late in the game.

Central holding midfielder: James Lumbe (Ekhaya FC)

The youthful midfielder is having a snug debut season in top-flight football at Ekhaya. Lumbe won the Man of the Match award for the second time this campaign after helping his team to a narrow and hard-earned 1-0 win over MAFCO at Kamuzu Stadium.

Attacking midfielder: Clever Kalambo (Moyale Barracks)

The scintillating winger was on his A-game against Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos. Kalambo bagged a brace to power his side to a comfortable 3-1 victory. His impressive performance earned him the Man of the Match award.

Right wing forward: Bryson Kanambo (Songwe Border United)

Kanambo helped his team secure its second draw of the season against Mighty WakaWaka Tigers. His stellar performance earned him the Man of the Match award and a slot in our Team of the Week segment.

Center forward: Andrew Joseph (Chitipa United)

Joseph has found himself in the Team of the Week two weeks in a row. He helped his team to a narrow 1-0 victory over Blue Eagles in the inaugural game at Chitipa Stadium. He was voted Man of the Match.

Center forward: Alfred Chizinga (Karonga United)

The former TN Stars forward helped Karonga turn a 3-1 deficit into a 3-3 draw against Bullets. He scored the equalizer in the 85th minute to dash Bullets’ hopes of finishing the first round of the 2025/26 TNM Super League on top. Chizinga was overall the best player on the field for Karonga. When Bullets’ Master seemed to be enjoying the game, Chizinga shifted into midfield to contain him. He was also constantly found at the back, helping the defense.
