One person has been confirmed dead while six others sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital after Mozambican top-flight league side, AD Vilankulo, was involved in a bus accident on Friday.
According to reports from Mozambican online platform Moz Sports TV, the club’s president, Quirino Gulube, confirmed that the rollover occurred around 13:50 in the Nhabete zone, between Zandamela and Quissico, in the district of Zavala.
The deceased has been identified as Eduardo, the head of the football department at the club.

Additionally, six others, most of them team representatives, were injured and taken to Zavala District Hospital where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
Several clubs in Mozambique have since sent heartfelt messages to AD Vilankulo in solidarity and sympathy following the tragic incident.
The team was returning from an away fixture in which they defeated Desportivo de Nacala 0-1 in the Mocambola League on Thursday.
AD Vilankulo has one Malawian player, Schumacher Kuwali, who joined the club from Blue Eagles last month. However, he is yet to feature for the team and was not on the bench for the recent match.
