Mighty Wanderers Football Club Head Coach Bob Mpinganjira has justified his decision to drop striker Promise Kamwendo from the starting lineup in their 3-0 victory over Kamuzu Barracks at Champions Stadium on Sunday.
Mpinganjira opted to start Blessings Mwalilino upfront, a change from recent matches where Kamwendo had led the attack in the absence of the injured Sama Thierry Tanjong.

Pressed on the decision after the game, Mpinganjira emphasized the depth of his squad. “We have many players in our squad and we want to believe in every player,” he stated. “It has already been communicated to the players.”
He clarified that Kamwendo’s omission was not due to injury or fatigue, despite his recent return from COSAFA duties. “League is a marathon and we will give every player the chance,” Mpinganjira added. “We need to be together, this is a long journey. We wanted to give other players the chance.”
Regarding the much-anticipated return of Sama Thierry Tanjong, Mpinganjira provided an update: “He is still under medical instructions. He is recovering well and we don’t want to rush him. We want him to be fully back.”
The dominant 3-0 win against Kamuzu Barracks keeps Mighty Wanderers unbeaten in their seven TNM Super League games this season. They sit second in the standings with 19 points, two points behind leaders FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.
