Mighty Wanderers head coach Bob Mpinganjira has called on the club’s supporters to turn out in large numbers as the Nomads return to CAF competition this Sunday afternoon.
The Blantyre-based giants will kick off their continental campaign with a home fixture against Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy at Bingu National Stadium, marking their return to African football’s premier club competition.

Wanderers, who remain unbeaten in the current TNM Super League season, are looking to capitalize on home advantage before traveling for the return leg next week. The coach believes transforming their domestic form onto the international stage will be crucial.
Speaking ahead of the crucial encounter, Mpinganjira emphasized the importance of the 12th man.
“The fans should turn out in good numbers as they always do. We believe that with their support, we can get the result we are looking for,” the experienced coach said.
The mentor expressed confidence in his squad’s readiness for the continental challenge, banking on his players’ international experience with the national team.
“We know that we are playing a very good team. We have talked with the players about the importance of the game. Of course, this is another level of football, but we are hopeful that our players’ international experience [with the national team] can help us.

“We have players who have international experience, and we are encouraging our boys that everything is possible in football.”
Mpinganjira revealed that the technical team has done their homework on their Botswana opponents.
“We have the information and we know that they [Jwaneng Galaxy] are a very good team. We know what kind of game it is going to be,” he stated.
The Nomads are returning to action following an approximately two-week break after their scheduled TNM Super League fixture against Silver Strikers was postponed due to the ongoing election period in the country.
However, Wanderers maintained match fitness with a 2-1 victory over Mzuzu City Hammers in the FDH Bank Cup. Mpinganjira views the enforced rest as a blessing in disguise.
“It’s not a setback. Sometimes resting in football is important, and the boys rested well. They are fresh heading into this game,” the coach concluded.
The match promises to be a stern test for Wanderers as they seek to make their mark on the continental stage once again.
