As the TNM Super League season approaches its climax, clubs find themselves with varying fixtures remaining—some have three games left, others two, and some just one. While the championship race has taken shape, the most intense battle is unfolding at the bottom of the table.
Should Mighty Wanderers win their next two games while Bullets and Silver fail to collect maximum points in any of their remaining three matches, the Nomads will be crowned champions for the seventh time in history since 1986. However, any slip-up could put their title hopes in doubt if rivals Bullets and Silver win their remaining fixtures.

At the other end of the table, few clubs can rest easy. Five teams remain uncertain about their survival, while Songwe Border FC has already been relegated with five games still to play. Mighty Tigers and Mzuzu City Hammers’ futures in elite football hang in the balance.
How Moyale Rescued Themselves from the Drop

Moyale Barracks have made surviving relegation an annual tradition. They narrowly escaped in 2023 when Blue Eagles were relegated to the lower division on head-to-head records after the teams finished level on all other parameters.
For the past two seasons, Moyale have fought for survival until the final matchdays. This year proved no different, though they’ve secured safety with three games remaining—a comparative luxury for the Mzuzu-based soldiers.
Their struggle to reach the 40-point mark has been consistent: 35 points in 2023, 38 in 2024, and currently 36 points this season. Should they win their remaining three matches, they could reach 45 points.
Moyale’s safety was effectively guaranteed on Wednesday after they delivered a crushing blow to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ title ambitions with a commanding 2-0 victory. With 36 points, even if they lose their next three matches and Mzuzu City Hammers (currently third from bottom) win all three of theirs, Moyale would survive on goal difference, provided teams in positions 11, 12, and 13 also win all their games.
The victory was crucial. Coming off consecutive losses to Silver Strikers and Civil Service United, another defeat against Bullets would have left them vulnerable. Lameck Mithi scored twice to secure the vital three points.
Head Coach Prichard Mwansa emphasized the importance of the result: “We were not in a good position at the log table. We had to win at all cost, and I am very happy with the win and our position now.”
With survival assured, Moyale will now focus on securing an Airtel Top 8 place in their remaining fixtures: away to Mighty Wanderers, home against Creck Sporting, and away to Dedza Dynamos.
If they win all three matches, Moyale will finish eighth. Currently, eighth-placed Kamuzu Barracks have just one game remaining and sit only two points ahead.
Blue Eagles have also secured their safety and will likely compete in the Airtel Top 8 next season after recent victories over Chitipa United and Kamuzu Barracks.
Hammers Battle for Super League Life

Mzuzu City Hammers face a desperate fight for survival over their final three games. The club has graced the Super League since 2021 and built a reputation for exciting football. Their dramatic fall from grace this season has been alarming.
The Iron Boys finished in the top five last season but now find themselves third from bottom with just 27 points from 27 games—averaging one point per match.
This afternoon’s match in Chitipa represents a must-win situation, though even victory would only take them to 30 points, still one point behind 13th-placed Dedza Dynamos and firmly in the relegation zone.
Recent form offers little comfort. Hammers have won just two of their last seven matches, losing two and drawing three, collecting nine points from those fixtures. However, they enter the Chitipa United clash with renewed confidence after beating Mighty Wanderers.
Their remaining fixtures will determine whether they extend their Super League tenure or drop to the lower division.
Dedza Dynamos, who receive substantial backing from Goshen City sponsors, occupy 13th place with 31 points. They’ll be hoping Hammers stumble while they take care of business in their remaining matches against Moyale Barracks and Creck Sporting Club.

Dynamos’ recent form has been solid—losing just once in their last seven games, with two wins and four draws, accumulating 10 points from those seven matches.
Creck and Mafco are also not safe entirely as they have 33 and 31 points respectively. Mafco who have lost 13 league matches this season have won just 8 and drawn seven.
Mafco are playing Silver Strikers in their next game and they will finish with an away game against Creck Sporting.
Mafco have won two games from their recent 7 games, losing three and drawing twice. They have collected 8 points.
Creck on the hand, are 11th with 33 points from 8 wins and 9 draws, having lost 9. They have won three games in their recent 7, beating Bullets, Karonga and Tigers. They have lost two and drawn twice. They have collected 11 points from 7 games.
Mighty Tigers are in deep trouble as they sit just second from bottom with just 26 points from 8 wins, 8 draws and 13 losses.
From their last seven games, they have won 2 games against Kamuzu Barracks and Songwe, lost two against Chitipa, Wanderers. They have drawn three times, getting 9 points from their recent 7 games.
