In a dramatic turnaround, Moyale Barracks secured their first TNM Super League victory since May 24, 2025, defeating Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos 3-1 at Rumphi Stadium.
The win, which snaps a nine-match winless streak, propelled the team five positions up the league table, lifting them out of the relegation zone and placing them just one step behind the top eight.
Clever Kalambo was the hero for Moyale, scoring a brace, with Raphael Phiri adding the third goal. For the visitors, Friday Osagie managed to score a consolation goal, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Dedza Dynamos from ending the first round of the season in the relegation zone.

The match began with Moyale Barracks demonstrating newfound determination. Clever Kalambo capitalized on an assist from Raphael Phiri in the 7th minute, and then doubled the lead just nine minutes later, giving the home side a commanding advantage.
Dedza Dynamos managed to pull one back in the 35th minute when Friday Osagie exploited a defensive lapse, but Kalambo restored the two-goal lead early in the second half, completing his brace in the 49th minute after a handling error by goalkeeper Donnex Mwakasinga. Despite Dedza Dynamos’ late efforts, including a shot from Yasin Chida that struck the upright, Moyale held on for the decisive win.
Moyale Barracks’ head coach, Prichard Mwansa, expressed his relief and satisfaction with the result. “This is a good win because we have been struggling to get three points in the league,” he stated.
“Getting this victory is a great way to end the first round. We will analyze what we lacked and aim for a better performance in the second round.”
Conversely, Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos’ coach, Alex Ngwira, attributed the loss to defensive errors. “We were not good at the back,” he explained. “We conceded two avoidable, cheap goals. We also had chances to score that we missed, and those factors ultimately cost us the game.”
The victory sees Moyale Barracks ascend from 14th to 9th place with 18 points, finishing the first half of the season with four wins, six draws, and five losses. Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos, meanwhile, drops two spots to 14th place, having accumulated 15 points from four wins, three draws, and eight defeats.
