Goals from George Mboma and Chifuniro Mpinganjira handed Goshen City Dedza Dynamos FC a vital 2–1 victory over MAFCO at Dedza Stadium on Sunday — a result that lifted Alex Ngwira’s side to 11th place in the TNM Super League and significantly strengthened their survival chances.
MAFCO’s consolation came through Chifundo Moloson, but his strike was not enough to prevent Goshen City from securing their second win in three matches within seven days.

Handed his first home start alongside the lively Chikondi Mbeta, Mboma needed just 11 minutes to make his presence felt. He headed home after goalkeeper Christopher Mikuwa failed to deal with an Edward Dakalira delivery, giving the home side an early advantage.
A minute later, MAFCO nearly responded through Auspicious Kadzongola, who unleashed a thunderous long-range effort, only for goalkeeper Dennis Phiri to produce a stunning save to protect Goshen’s lead.

Kadzongola remained a persistent threat, repeatedly testing a Goshen defence marshalled by captain Lughano Kayira and shielded superbly by the in-form Dan Mponya. In the 23rd minute he came close again, but Phiri stood tall once more.
As pressure intensified at both ends, Mbeta almost doubled Goshen City’s lead in the 31st minute, but Mikuwa redeemed himself with a smart save. Despite the close calls, the hosts went into the break leading 1–0.
Ten minutes into the second half, Chifuniro Mpinganjira rolled back the years with a moment of individual brilliance, weaving through the MAFCO defence before firing home to make it 2–0 — a goal that sent the Dedza faithful into jubilation.
But the celebrations were short-lived. Two minutes later, Moloson pulled one back for MAFCO with a well-struck effort from outside the penalty area, beating Phiri at his near post and reigniting the contest.
In a bid to pile more pressure, MAFCO introduced former Goshen striker Rodwell Robert and Prince Kachere in the 68th minute, replacing Zikani Sichinga and goal-scorer Moloson.

The changes almost paid off. In the 72nd minute, Kadzongola once again came agonizingly close to levelling the score, meeting a cross from the right flank but sending his effort wide with Phiri already beaten.
Captain Paul Ndlhovu had a busy afternoon trying to contain the towering Mboma, who put in a man-of-the-match performance. Ndlhovu — popularly known as Khado — was eventually booked for a foul on the dominant striker.
Despite their relentless push, MAFCO could not find the equaliser as Goshen City held firm to claim all three points in front of their home supporters.
MAFCO coach Stereo Gondwe did not hide his disappointment, admitting that Mikuwa’s early error shifted the momentum of the match.
“That was not a goal to be conceded by an experienced goalkeeper like him, honestly,” Gondwe said. “It cost us the game.”
A relieved Alex Ngwira praised his players for their resilience and insisted that Goshen City will not be relegated.
“It was a tough match, but as I have been saying, this team will not be relegated,” Ngwira declared
before faulting his forwards for their wastefulness:
“Our strikers were not sharp enough in front of goal.”
Goshen City Dedza Dynamos FC now sit on 30 points from 27 matches, two points above MAFCO, who have played the same number of games
