Silver Strikers Assistant Coach Kent Mapopa Msukwa has vowed his team will continue fighting for the league championship until the final whistle, despite trailing the leaders by six points.
The defending champions have surged back into title contention with an impressive run of four consecutive victories, keeping their hopes of a 10th league title alive.
Since their 2-1 defeat to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in October, the Central Bankers have been unbeaten in seven matches, winning five and drawing twice. During this stretch, they’ve dispatched Creck Sporting, Moyale Barracks, Civil Service United, Kamuzu Barracks, and Songwe Border FC, collecting 17 points from a possible 21.

Silver currently sit on 53 points from 25 matches, while both FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Wanderers have 59 points each. However, the Bankers have five games remaining compared to four for their rivals, giving them a mathematical chance if results go their way.
Confidence After Dominant Victory
Speaking after Sunday’s commanding 6-0 victory over relegated Songwe Border FC, Mapopa Msukwa remained bullish about his team’s prospects.
“The league is still open; we still have so many games to play,” he said. “This huge win is a motivation to the players ahead of our game against Ekhaya. It is a morale booster. Now we will be concentrated on Ekhaya’s game first, then after that, we will start preparing for the next game. We are taking it one game at a time.”
Macdonald Lameck scored twice in the rout, while Emmanuel Allan, Uchizi Vunga, Festus Duwe, and Zebron Kalima each found the net.
For Silver Strikers to successfully defend their title, they’ll need to win all five remaining matches while hoping both Bullets and Wanderers drop points in their final four games. It’s a tall order, but the Bankers’ recent form suggests they won’t surrender their crown without a fight.
