The team led by National Youth Football Association (NYFA) general secretary Rabson Woodwell travelled by bus and it has 20 players, six officials and five technical personnel.
According to Woodwell, the boys are well prepared and they believe they will make Malawi proud.
“This is part of the joint programmes that we are trying to implement with our neighbouring countries and we believe that this is in line with transforming the game agenda,” Woodwell said.
He applauded the Zambian Football Association (FAZ) for considering them for the tournament.
“It shows the cordial relationship that is there between Malawi and Zambia in different key aspects including sports,” he said.
Woodwell further expressed gratitude to the Football Association of Malawi for their guidance and blessing.
FAM has shown us that they really care about youth football that is why we have James Sangala with us who looks after youth development at the association,” Woodwell indicated.
Grey Malikebu is the head coach for the team and he will be assisted by Jack Chiona with Bryan M’buka as the goalkeepers trainer.
Apart from Woodwell and Sangala, the other officials are Godwin Zawanda as the Team manager whereas Cliff Mbalo is the assistant team manager and Rhodrick Longwe as the joint coordinator with John Mkisi responsible for logistics.
