Flames Coach, Patrick Mabedi has clarified his decision to recall goal-poacher, Gabadinho Mhango after barring him to join the team for the two opening matches of the World Cup Qualifiers.

Mabedi who released the full squad on Friday in Blantyre said every person is bound to make mistakes and after realizing it and apologize, the second chance has always been there.

“Last time he didn’t do what the players were told to do. The players were told to send their recovery sessions and were supposed to come early, so he knows that he missed the flight, and he is aware that he didn’t do things that he was told by the technical panel. When it comes to discipline, we are very serious, and we strictly follow it.

“But we discussed [the matter] and we everyone makes mistakes, we know it. We need to sit back and talk when someone makes mistakes and if he apologizes and corrects the mistakes, we need to give him a second chance.

“We all make mistakes, I also make mistakes, so we need to move on and proceed. We need to give him an opportunity, if he makes it, then we will have him because it’s not easy for a player just to come in, he needs to work hard,” he said.

Mhango last played for the National Team in the team’s drubbing 4-0 defeat to Egypt and he missed the World Cup Qualifiers two opening games due to what Coach described “indiscipline”.

The 31 year old striker missed his flight from South Africa to Ethiopia when the team was traveling to face Liberia in West Africa.

Mabedi demanded an apology from Mhango for his behavior and sources revealed that the matter was handled internally with the Football Association of Malawi being the mediator.

After the incident that happened last year, rumours lingered around that there was a rift between Mabedi and Mhango but the former Kaizer Chiefs defender clarified that there is no any disagreement between them.

“No! Gaba is my son and the team he is playing for, I’m the one who facilitated the move. I love him, he is our own son of the soil,” he added.

In absence of Mhango in the World Cup Qualifiers two opening games, Malawi managed to beat Liberia away before suffering a late defeat to Tunisia at home.
