“This is a message that the team is fully back. We have now recorded back-to-back wins and we want more in the league, so we will continue working hard to secure more victories,” said Kaputa.

The result marked a fifth consecutive loss for Ntopwa, dubbed the Amaghetto Kids, following their defeat to Mighty Wanderers Women and three losses at the COSAFA CAF Women’s Championship. Ntopwa coach Isaac Jomo Osman acknowledged his team’s missed opportunities despite showing improvement.

“It was a good game and my girls have improved significantly in terms of positioning and other aspects. The problem is that we failed to utilize our chances, but overall the team is in good shape,” said Osman.

In the day’s other fixture, Moyale Sisters established their dominance in the Northern region with a commanding 4-1 victory over MK Academy at Mzuzu Stadium, securing their first win of the season and escaping the relegation zone.

Maurine Phiri netted a hat-trick while Shupie Gondwe added the fourth goal for the hosts. Angella Mwalilino scored a consolation goal for MK Academy, who remain winless in the league.

Moyale head coach John Chimwala said his team is still in a learning phase but is now applying lessons learned from facing stronger opponents.

“We need to first secure home supremacy before casting the net wider. Our plan this season is to avoid relegation. We never expected to be playing in the National league, so we were initially learning, and now we are applying that knowledge. We will not get relegated according to what we have planned – we have big plans,” said Chimwala.

MK Academy coach Davie Sibande attributed the defeat to defensive lapses, expressing disappointment given their preparation for the match.

“We never expected to lose this game as we had planned very well, but today our defense was sloppy. I would say all the goals we conceded were simply gifted to Moyale,” said Sibande.

The victory lifted Moyale to seventh position with 4 points from one win, one draw, and three defeats. MK Academy dropped to ninth place with just 1 point from one draw and four defeats.
