MAFCO roared back to winning ways in the TNM Super League, securing their third victory of the season with a commanding 3-1 triumph over Mighty Tigers on Saturday afternoon. Prince Kachere was the star, netting a brilliant brace, while Auspicious Kadzongola added another goal for the Soldiers. Philip Chavula scored a consolation for the Tigers.
MAFCO wasted no time asserting their dominance. Just two minutes in, Kachere received a pass from Yohane Malunga, weaved past two defenders, and calmly slotted home to open the scoring. The Soldiers continued to press, with Sunganani Mponda in the Tigers’ goal denying Duncan Mwale and Kadzongola within the opening ten minutes. Kachere was denied again by Mponda in the 18th minute, but MAFCO’s relentless attack persisted, as Chifundo Moloseni and Kadzongola also forced excellent saves from the Tigers’ keeper.
Mighty Tigers made a change at halftime, with Leo Mpulula introducing Masambelo Kalua for Levison Gopani. They started the second half with renewed energy, but Moloseni fired wide in the 52nd minute. MAFCO then doubled their lead on the hour mark when Kadzongola connected with another precise pass from Malunga.

The Tigers found a glimmer of hope in the 65th minute when Philip Chavula unleashed a long-range effort that found the back of the net, putting the game at 2-1. MAFCO made tactical substitutions, bringing on Ben Manyozo and James Tambwali for Martin Msewa and Shukurani Afick, while Wakisa Kalinga replaced the injured Sunganani Geoffrey. With just two minutes left on the clock, Kachere sealed MAFCO’s dominant performance, scoring his second goal to put the match beyond doubt.
Jimmy Mzunga, assistant coach for MAFCO, expressed his satisfaction with the crucial home win. “It is a good win as you know we are coming from two defeats, so we told the boys to at least try so that we win at home, and it has indeed happened,” Mzunga remarked.
On the Mighty Tigers’ side, Technical Director Robin Abambo Alufandika candidly conceded the defeat. “We have lost because we were not good and our friends were better than us, so it was hard to win in that kind of situation,” Alufandika admitted.
The victory moves MAFCO up to 12th position in the TNM Super League with 10 points from 10 games, boasting three wins, one draw, and six defeats. Mighty Tigers remain on 10 points from the same number of games, also with three wins, one draw, and six losses, placing them just ahead of MAFCO in 11th position.
