Kaboola FC sent a strong early message in the FCB U-20 Katswiri league, defeating Dedza Eagles 3-0 in their opening match today at Umbwi ground. Last season’s runners-up, Kaboola FC, showcased their determination with a dominant second-half performance after a goalless first half.
Mathews Dennis was the hero of the day, netting a brace in the second half. Captain Steven Thokozani also led by example, passionately guiding his team to a well-deserved victory. Ashan Kadzamila scored Kaboola FC’s other goal.

Dedza Eagles U-20, who finished third last season, struggled to find their rhythm. Their goalkeeper was a standout, making several crucial saves to prevent an even larger deficit.
Isaac Yaseen, General Secretary for the Dedza District Youth Football Association, expressed his satisfaction with the opening match. “Our teams have shown us that they are more than ready with what we have witnessed today, and we’re happy,” Yaseen stated.
He also commended both teams for their punctuality, emphasizing that this trend should continue throughout the season.
In recognition of outstanding individual performances, Isaac Kathumba, Vice Chairperson for the association, awarded Steven Thokozani K10,000 for being voted Man of the Match.
Mathews Dennis received K5,000 for his two goals. Kathumba confirmed that this initiative will continue throughout the season, while Yaseen reaffirmed his commitment to providing football boots to other outstanding players in the league.
